Rold Skov
Rold forest is one of the largest forests in Denmark and covers an area of about 80 km2 or 8000 hectares.
There are endless possibilities for activities in the forest – bike-riding tracks, horseback-riding tracks, hiking tracks, fresh-water lakes for swimming etc.

Everywhere in the forest there are traces of an extensive production of charcoal, for instance by “Kulsvierpladsen” – a place where the charcoal burners worked – in Rebild Hills. The extensive charcoal burning in Rold forest demanded large quantities of wood and contributed to serious changes in the forest. Today a charcoal burner, who has carried on the tradition, still works in the forest.

When the railroad came to the area in 1869 towns like Arden and Skørping were founded. In those days you could ride by train into the forest. Nowadays the flag stop doesn’t exist anymore, but you can still visit the lovely eatery Mosskov pavillionen. www.mosskov.com
